AFOL, the Lanzarote Association for Families with Cancer, has called on islanders to attend a demonstration in Arrecife on Saturday.
The aim of the demonstration is to demand the opening of the radiotherapy bunker at Arrecife’s Hospital at the earliest opportunity. Although the bunker has been prepared, the equipment has still not been acquired or installed.
Meanwhile, cancer sufferers on Lanzarote continue to have to travel to Las Palmas in Gran Canaria for courses of treatment, which often separates them from family members.
The demo will also support the renovation of the Maternal/Infant Hospital in Las Palmas, where child cancer sufferers from Lanzarote are treated.
Marchers will gather on Saturday 5th November at 10am at the Casa Amarilla on Calle Real (C/León y Castillo), and the demo will proceed to the Cabildo, where a manifesto will be read out and delivered to the President.
