Firemen were called to Arrecife’s main shopping street, Calle Real, on Saturday morning after tiles fell from the old Cabildo building.

Known as la Casa Amarilla (the Yellow House) for its distinctive yellow tiling, the building is now used for exhibitions.
Firemen said they received reports that tiles had fallen at 11 am on Saturday morning – a time when Arrecife is at its busiest. They cordoned off the area, cleared away the debris and removed any further tiles that were at risk of falling.
