The Guardia Civil were called to remove the two passengers after flight attendants had repeatedly requested them to put masks on, as is required by aviation law. The women have been charged with breaking the law on face mask use and disobeying flight staff.

A week later, another man was arrested on a flight from Gran Canaria to Madrid after refusing to wear a mask and punching another passenger who insisted he do so.
