Alerts are in place for high winds and rough seas today (Thursday 9th April) as a storm passes by to the north of Lanzarote
A yellow alert for north-westerly winds that could reach up to 70 kph has been issued until midnight.
An orange alert for rough seas has also been issued until 1 pm, at which point it will be reduced to a yellow alert until midnight. Large waves are expected to hit the north and north-west coasts of the island.
Light rain showers and possible thunderstorms are also forecast for the island over the next three days, although the wind is expected to become weaker from tomorrow (Friday). A cloudy weekend is also predicted.
