Canal Gestión and the Lanzarote Water Consortium have informed residents that water supplies have been suspended from 8 am today in Guatiza, Punta Mujeres, Los Cocoteros, Nazaret, Montaña Blanca, Güime, Masdache, Conil, Tegoyo, La Asomada and Mácher.
Tías, Soo, Tao, Tiagua, Muñique, Mala, La Villa de Teguise, Uga and Yaiza may also experience low water pressure or fluctuations in supply.
Supplies of recycled water for agricultural use have also been suspended for this week.
The authorities claim that the problems arise from the huge demand on supplies in the busiest tourist season. However, the persistent cuts have also highlighted the poor state of Lanzarote’s mains water supplies odue to neglewct and lack of investment.
