Today is Carnival Tuesday, when plenty of islanders will be feeling a little delicate after last night’s big parade in Arrecife.
It’s a public holiday in Arrecife, Tías, San Bartolomé, Tinajo and Haría so forget about doing any official town hall business or shopping in smaller establishments in those towns. The main shopping centres and resorts will carry on pretty much as normal, though.
If you want more carnival, San Bartolomé will hold its parade today at 12.30 pm. The street party will start at Calle Constitución and proceed to the Parque Felix Rodríguez de la Fuente, with concerts and DJs until the evening. It’s a smaller parade than Arrecife’s but the inland town carnivals often have a charm that is lacking from the larger events.
Or you could stay at home and mess around with eggs, flour, milk and a frying pan. Happy Pancake Day!
