Alejandro Ramírez, the Teguise councillor who resigned from the council’s governing group on Monday, has said he will not support a no-confidence vote.

At a press conference yesterday Ramírez said that his work as Sports Councillor had been hindered by “obstacles and withdrawal of personnel”.

“I regret to say that some political groups see it as a priority not to work for the good of Teguise, but to meddle with the work of other departments. That is why I am here now. Teguise does not deserve this”, he continued.

Although he has spoken with Marcos Bergaz, the leader of the opposition, Ramírez is not considering a no-confidence vote that could oust Mayor Olivia Duque and her ruling group, nor, he claimed, has one been proposed.

“I did not come here to break a pact,” he commented “I’m claiming what is rightfully due to the sports department, and will not support next motion presented by the human resources team of the Teguise City Council”.
