The period for submitting annual tax declarations for the year 2025 has officially opened in Spain, as the Agencía Tributária permits online submissions from today.

The online borrador (draft tax form) will be available until the end of June. Telephone submissions will be available from May 6th, while physical appointments at tax offices will take place in June.

Workers who received more than €22,000 from a single employer, or more than €15,876 from multiple employers in 2025 are required to submit a declaration. Autónomos (self-employed workers), and those on the vital minimum income must also make a declaration.

It’s also a good idea for those on lower incomes to submit a declaration, as certain subsidies can only be claimed by presenting it. We’d advise anyone who’s not confident with Spain’s complicated tax system to seek professional assistance from a tax specialist.
