After several years of closure due to the risk of landslides, the Cabildo yesterday reopened the LZ-207 road from Haría to Arrieta, which passes through the lovely little village of Tabayesco.
The twisting road runs alongside the Barranco de Chafaris, one of the largest valleys in the north of the island, which channels water from the highest-lying parts of Lanzarote to the sea.
However, this caused frequent landslides on the road, which was closed in 2018. Five years, €500,000 and a lot of roadworks later, the road was opened yesterday by Cabildo.
president María Dolores Corujo, works councillor Alfredo Mendoza and Haría’s Mayor, Evelia García.
