Resurfacing work has commenced on Avenida Faro Pechiguera in Playa Blanca. The project, being carried out by Club Lanzarote, covers 6,800 square metres of pavement between the LZ-701 road and the roundabout near the school.
The works are scheduled to be completed by Thursday (March 12th), with traffic expected to return to normal in both directions on Friday, March 13th. Yaiza Ayuntamiento has thanked the public for their understanding during this period and has advised that alternative access routes are available. Motorists can reach the industrial and residential areas via the Lidl supermarket junction, while access to CEIP Playa Blanca and CEO Montaña Roja is possible via Calle Europa.
Mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, highlighted the significance of these improvements, stating, “After Carnival, we will begin four municipal projects involving asphalting, new roads, accessibility, and sidewalks in various areas of Playa Blanca, totalling more than five million euros.” These projects include the renovation of the central Avenida Papagayo, work on the entrance to Playa Blanca via Femés, road improvements in the residential area of Las Coloradas, and the construction of a new road, Azores, which will continue the street in front of the health centre.
Looking ahead, councillors Beatriz Vázquez and Ángel Lago, responsible for the Montaña Roja district and Public Works respectively, have announced further interventions. They stated, “Club Lanzarote has also been urged to resurface Avenida Faro Pechiguera in its entirety, starting with the section between the petrol station and the Elba hotel roundabout.” This forms part of the municipal government’s commitment to overseeing and promoting necessary urbanisation works in the Montaña Roja area.
