Two sea turtles were returned to the wild by the Cabildo’s Wildlife Rescue Department yesterday.

The loggerhead turtles were released on Guacimeta beach, and pupils from Playa Honda school went along to watch them return to the sea.

Both turtles had undergone months of veterinary treatment. “Margarita” was discovered tangled in netting, exhausted and injured, near El Golfo in March, while “José” was stranded on Famara beach in January, malnourished and with only one eye.

The Cabildo reminds citizens that 696 733 177 is the phone number to contact the Wildlife Rescue Service if you discover an injured or at-risk wild animal. You can also contact the 112 general emergency number.
