Power cut affects most of Lanzarote

Most parts of Lanzarote were affected by a power cut this morning.

The outage began at 5.45 am, and current reports suggest it affected most of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, with only the resort of Playa Blanca, where supply is linked to Fuerteventura’s, remaining connected.

Electricity supplies were re-established by 8 am.

The causes of the blackout have not yet been established, but it appears to have originated at the Mácher sub-station, before cuts were also reported at San Bartolomé and Punta Grande.
