If you’re looking for something exciting to do this weekend, Playa Blanca will be the place to be as Basalto Rules returns for its second edition on June 27th and 28th. The hybrid fitness competition will transform the Paseo de la Sal, next to Marina Rubicón, into a lively arena where strength, endurance, and determination take centre stage.
More than 250 athletes from across the Canary Islands, many of them from Lanzarote, will compete over two action-packed days, making this one of the island’s biggest functional fitness events of the year. Saturday’s programme will feature the Open category (, where amateur athletes and teams take on demanding fitness challenges, while Sunday will see the elite Basalto category, showcasing some of the Canary Islands’ strongest and most experienced hybrid athletes.
Mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, welcomed the event’s rapid growth, saying Basalto Rules has quickly become one of the region’s most promising sporting competitions and has all the ingredients to establish itself as a benchmark event in the Canary Islands.
The competition is also expected to attract hundreds of visitors over the weekend.
