The Lanzarote Island Council has announced that the Papagayo Campsite will open for the summer season from 3 July until 4 October, extending its operating period compared with previous years.

Located within the protected natural area of Los Ajaches, the campsite will begin accepting guests from 3 July, with bookings opening today, Monday 29 June, via the official website: https://acampadapapagayo.com.

Councillor Samuel Martín said the site continues to be one of the island’s most popular seasonal facilities and highlighted the decision to remain open until early October.

Following a review of occupancy levels during last summer and Easter 2026, the Island Council has also reorganised the campsite to better reflect changing visitor preferences.

Demand for small tent pitches was found to be low, while larger plots suitable for camper vans, motorhomes and caravans proved increasingly popular. As a result, the number of pitches reserved for small tents has been reduced from 64 to just eight, allowing more space for larger vehicles.

The campsite now offers around 260 pitches, the majority designed for camper vans, motorhomes and caravans, all equipped with the facilities needed for a comfortable stay.

The Cabildo has also confirmed that prices have been frozen for the 2026 season to keep the campsite affordable.

Campers are reminded that making a reservation means agreeing to the site’s rules of conduct, which are intended to ensure a respectful atmosphere and protect the surrounding natural environment. Visitors are also being urged to use water responsibly, with the council stressing that it remains a scarce resource on Lanzarote.
