Man found guilty of manslaughter of British citizen in Costa Teguise

A German man has been found guilty of the manslaughter of a British citizen after throwing him from the terrace of a shopping centre during a fight in Costa Teguise in May 2023.

The incident occurred in the early hours of May 28^th, 2023, when the accused, identified as Tobias C.K, was celebrating a successful deal and went to the Teguise Playa shopping centre to buy champagne. There, he got into a fight with a British citizen identified as Thomas C.J. which resulted in the victim being thrown over a balcony and suffering injuries which later led to his death.

While accepting that the accused did not intend the death of the victim, the jury at the Las Palmas Provincial Court decided that this was a foreseeable consequence of his actions.  

Sentencing will now follow, with the prosecution demanding 12 years in prison and compensatory payment of €120,000.
