This year’s grape harvest is likely to be higher than expected, according to the president of Lanzarote’s Wine Council, Jorge Rodríguez.

Speaking on Lancelot Radio, Rodríguez said that at the half-way point in the harvest, the predicted harvest could exceed 2.5 million kilos. This would be more than three times the harvest gathered last year, which did not reach 700,000 kilos.

The recent heatwave caused some worries for wine growers, but the deep soaking caused by heavy rains in winter has helped the vines survive the worst of the weather.
