Spain’s meteorological agency (AEMET) forecasts bad weather on Lanzarote and La Graciosa this Tuesday. Forecasts predict significant rainfall, which could be heavy and persistent in some areas, with a strong likelihood of accompanying storms.
The day is expected to begin with clear skies in the early hours. However, conditions will deteriorate rapidly, with clouds building to bring moderate rain. This will likely develop into showers as Tuesday progresses. AEMET advises that locally heavy downpours and storms are a distinct possibility. Some respite is forecast for the late afternoon, with clouds breaking to reveal intervals of sunshine.
In terms of temperatures, a slight to moderate drop in maximums is expected, while overnight lows will see little change. Thermometers will read between 11 and 18 degrees Celsius across the islands.
Winds will start light from the west in the early morning, strengthening to moderate and shifting to a northerly direction after midday. Some strong gusts are anticipated in inland areas.
The Rest Of The Week
The unsettled weather is set to persist beyond Tuesday. Wednesday will see predominantly cloudy skies over Lanzarote, with a continued chance of light and occasional rain throughout the day.
Temperatures will remain stable, with lows around 13 degrees and highs near 19 degrees. The wind will shift to a moderate northeasterly flow, with strong intervals on slopes exposed to the trade winds. AEMET notes that locally very strong gusts cannot be ruled out in these areas. Residents and visitors are advised to stay updated on the latest forecasts and exercise caution during periods of heavy rain and potential storm activity.
