Crime figures fall on Lanzarote, although sexual offences and burglaries increase

Crime on Lanzarote has fallen by 3.9% in the first half of 2026 compared with the same period last year, according to statistics from Spain’s Interior Ministry.

The crime rate, at 44 incidents for every 1,000 inhabitants, and the 60% clearance rate for crimes are also below the national and Canarian average.

However, although the total amount of reported crimes has fallen, the island has seen a marked increase in sexual offences (59 cases, a 68.6% increase) and burglaries (82 cases, a 17% increase).

A closer look at the figures shows that crime in Arrecife has increased, while it has fallen in the municipalities of Tías and Teguise.
