The animal protection group Ademal have denounced the deaths of a number of feral cats in the area of Soo, Teguise.

Two cats were found dead last week in the colony of feral cats, adding to a number of earlier deaths. Local police and the animal welfare department of Teguise council will conduct autopsies to discover whether the cats were poisoned.

Ademal warned “If it turns out that the cats were poisoned, we are faced with a serious crime that can bring fines from between €3,000 to €10,000, as well as a prison sentence.”

Ademal have asked locals in the area to be vigilant and report any person who appears to be leaving poison in the area to contact the local police (928845252) or themselves (679744689). All information will be treated in confidence.
