The Cabildo of Lanzarote has presented its cultural programme for July, with a packed summer schedule headlined by major live music events and the premiere of Víctor, a new musical celebrating the life and legacy of Víctor Fernández Gopar, better known as “El Salinero.”
The month’s programme also includes literary events, film screenings, artistic workshops and cultural gatherings, offering a broad range of activities across Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
Councillor for Culture Jesús Machín Tavío said the July calendar brings together some of the island’s most significant cultural events of the summer, combining established festivals with new productions that showcase Lanzarote’s heritage.
He added that the programme has been designed to appeal to a wide audience while reinforcing the Cabildo’s commitment to making high-quality cultural events accessible across multiple venues on both islands.
“Víctor” Brings El Salinero’s Legacy to the Stage
One of the month’s highlights will be Víctor, which will be performed at the Jameos del Agua Auditorium on 10 and 11 July.
Organised by the Centres for Art, Culture and Tourism (CACT), the production tells the story of Víctor Fernández Gopar, the poet and salt worker from Janubio whose work helped preserve Canarian traditions, landscapes and identity.
Combining live music, theatre and elaborate staging, the musical explores his life and enduring influence on Lanzarote’s cultural heritage and collective memory.
