Water supplies on Lanzarote are mostly back to normal after yesterday’s power cut, according to Aguas de Lanzarote y La Graciosa.

The power cut, which started at 5.45 am on Saturday morning and last for around 90 minutes on most of the island, also affected water desalination plants and caused “an interruption in the supply”.

Aguas de Lanzarote claims that supplies are now back to normal in Arrecife, Tías, Tinajo and San Bartolomé although normal water pressure still needs to be reestablished in some zones.

In Yaiza, supply has been delayed, but normal service will be resumed over the course of this morning. In Teguise, several smaller towns and villages are still affected by low water supplies, including Tao, Tiagua, Soo, Muñique, Nazaret and Teguise. Nazaret is progressing more slowly.

Los Valles, Teseguite and El Mojón are still without water supplies, which should be reestablished at some time this afternoon.

Aguas de Lanzarote warns that water reserves remain “tight” and that “certain manoeuvres” may be necessary later in the day in some areas. It advises islanders to use water responsibly while supplies are recovered.
