The funding will support construction and improvement projects at schools across the municipality, with some works already completed and others underway or planned.

Yaiza Ayuntamiento has approved an additional €400,000 from surplus funds to finance improvement and construction projects at schools across the municipality.

The projects were requested by the educational community, with some already completed during the summer, others currently underway and further works planned.

Mayor Oscar Noda said the investment reflected the municipality’s financial position and the council’s continued spending on infrastructure.

At CEIP Playa Blanca, an access ramp has been installed to improve accessibility between two buildings, while repairs have been carried out to the cafeteria ceiling following water leaks.

The Las Breñas school has undergone a comprehensive renovation of two restrooms, while works at the Femés school have included the creation of a shaded area, wall repairs and new flooring.

At the school in Uga, a space has been constructed to meet demand for a school cafeteria. Improvements have also been made to the playground, alongside the construction of a storage room and a new restroom for teachers.

Further works have included the construction of a restroom for young children at CEIP Yaiza and improvements to the school’s entrance, among other projects.

The council has also highlighted work to improve safety around CEIP Uga.

Noda said: “We have improved safety at the entrance to CEIP Uga by building a pedestrian path and adding parking spaces in the surrounding area.”
