Fourteen Lanzarote wines were presented to importers, buyers and hospitality professionals in Germany as part of a Cabildo initiative aimed at expanding export opportunities for the island’s wine sector.
The Cabildo has hosted a business promotion event in Hamburg to introduce fourteen Lanzarote wines to German importers, buyers, wine shop managers and professionals from the fine dining sector.
Held on Monday, the initiative centred on a professional wine tasting and a wine-pairing menu designed to showcase the quality and distinctive character of wines produced on the island.
Armando Santana, Councillor for Commerce and Hospitality, said: “This initiative puts our producers in direct contact with German importers and buyers, fostering business relationships that can lead to new distribution and export channels for Lanzarote wines.”
He added: “Our wines are the result of the efforts of generations of winegrowers and a cultivation method that is unique in the world. We want our wineries to be able to access new markets and generate economic opportunities that benefit the island’s entire wine sector.”
Seven Lanzarote wineries took part in the event: La Verea, Bodegas Vulcano, La Geria, Bodegas Erupción, Jable de Tao, Bodegas La Florida and Bodegas Altahay.
The tasting was led by German journalist and food and wine critic David Schwarzwälder, who specialises in wine. During the presentation, he highlighted the distinctive characteristics of the fourteen wines and their connection to Lanzarote’s volcanic landscape and long-standing winemaking tradition.
