Mini-heatwave expected to ease today despite yellow heat alert

A yellow heat alert remains in place from 10 am to 8 pm today, Wednesday 16^th September, although forecasts indicate that the mini-heatwave of the last few days is coming to an end.

Today will still be hot and sunny, with temperatures of up to 34 degrees Celsius possible earlier in the day, but fresher north winds are predicted to bring cooler temperatures down to the mid-20s later in the day.

Yesterday was one of the hottest days of the year so far, with a temperature of 38 degrees recorded in Arrecife and unofficial reports of even higher values around the island.
