Lanzarote Airport Reported for Heat Stress Risk

The CSIF trade union has reported Lanzarote’s César Manrique Airport to the Health and Safety Inspectorate for risking the health of passengers and workers due to excess heat.

CSIF claims the situation is caused by the “failure or absence of the airport’s air conditioning systems” and is generating a risk of heat stress in the areas designated for passenger security checks.

The union also asserts that “a large number of passengers are being observed in a state of extreme sweating with visible skin conditions such as heat-induced blisters.” It says that this causes distress during compulsory searches.

The report also calls for a replacement for the seating in the security zones, and criticises the lack of cleanliness in the passenger registration area, at the T1 and T2 security checkpoints, and in the workers’ rest and break area.”
