Just 14% of Homes in Las Palmas Province Have Air Conditioning, Study Finds

Only 14% of homes in the province of Las Palmas, which includes Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria, are equipped with air conditioning, according to a new study by property portal idealista.

The figure is well below the national average of 47%, highlighting the significant regional differences in the availability of air conditioning across Spain.

The neighbouring province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife records a slightly higher rate, with 20% of homes featuring air conditioning.

The findings are based on an analysis of more than 613,000 homes for sale and rent listed on idealista’s platform during June 2026.

Across Spain, Málaga has the highest proportion of air-conditioned homes, with 71% of properties equipped with the feature. It is followed by the Balearic Islands (69%), Seville (68%) and Córdoba (64%). Madrid stands at 61%, while Alicante, Valencia, Jaén, Almería, Murcia, Badajoz and Castellón all exceed the national average.

At the opposite end of the scale, the coolest northern provinces have the lowest rates. Only 1% of homes in Asturias, Cantabria and Burgos have air conditioning, while Álava, Lugo and A Coruña each remain below 2%.
