Woman Rescued After Becoming Stranded at Playa del Risco

Emergency services evacuated a woman from the Playa del Risco yesterday after she was unable to climb back up the Famara cliff.

After receiving a call, firefighters arrived at the beach, which is located at the foot of Famara cliffs. The woman, an Italian national, was in a good state of health but was unable to climb back up the Caminito de los Gracioseros as she had recently undergone a back operation.

The woman was taken to La Graciosa in a boat belonging to the Emergency Consortium, from where she was transferred to Órzola in a water taxi.

The Caminito de los Gracioseros, a winding, rocky path that leads up the Famara cliff to Yé, is one of the toughest walking routes on Lanzarote. Anyone tackling it, especially at this time of year, is advised to be fully prepared.
