New Water Pipeline Approved for La Graciosa

The Cabildo and Lanzarote’s Water Consortium have welcomed the Canarian Government’s approval of a new water pipeline to La Graciosa, which is expected to solve the frequent water cuts suffered by the eighth Canary Island.

The works will involve 1,200 metres of underwater tubing, and 1,100 of pipes on land, and €3.88 million have been earmarked for the project,

The works are likely to be put out to tender before the end of the year, and will begin in 2027. Laying the underwater pipes is likely to take place during the autumn, when condition in El Rio are at their calmest.

This means that the project will be hopefully completed before 2028, solving a long-running problem for La Graciosa.
