Tourists to Lanzarote awarded an average mark of 8.6 out of 10 for overall satisfaction, the highest of any of the Canary Islands, according to a recent survey published by the Cabildo’s Statistics Centre.

Despite the wettest winter for years, climate was given as the main reason for tourists choosing to holiday on Lanzarote, in the survey that covered the first three months of 2026

Climate was chosen as a factor by 75% of respondents, with security mentioned by 60%.  “Tranquility” was the only other factor chosen by over 50% of those interviewed.

The sea, landscapes and food were other factors that performed strongly, while nightlife was the least-chosen factor, mentioned by just 6%.

The survey also showed that almost 60% of tourists organise their holiday more than three months in advance, while 18% select “last minute” options less than a month ahead.

62% said that previous visits to the island were the main source of information for their trip, while the internet and social media were chosen by 51%.

Lanzarote tourists stay for shorter average periods than on any of the other largest Canary Islands – 8.6 days. British tourists stay for an average of 8.4 days.

The most popular activity mentioned was “pasear”, translated as strolling or walking around. “Beach”, “pool” and “travelling around the island” were also popular, with more than 50% of tourists.
