Between January and March, a total of 1,484 vehicles were registered on the island, a 38.9% increase compared to the 1,068 recorded in the same period last year.
The figures show that the growth was driven largely by passenger cars, where the number of new registrations more than doubled. In the first quarter of 2026, a total of 1,128 cars were registered, up from just 606 during the same months in 2025.
Across Lanzarote’s seven municipalities, Arrecife recorded the highest number of registrations with 369 vehicles in the first quarter of the year. That represents an increase of 36 compared with the previous year.
San Bartolomé followed closely, registering 334 vehicles – 21 more than last year. In Tías, the figure reached 287, which is more than double the number registered in the same period of 2025. Teguise saw 217 registrations, an increase of 102 year on year.
Further down the list, Yaiza registered 153 vehicles (31 more than last year), while Tinajo recorded 97, representing a rise of 66. The smallest municipality, Haría, registered 27 vehicles, up from 20 in the first quarter of 2025.
