New data released by Spain’s Ministry of Consumer Affairs, in collaboration with the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), reveals that the two Canary Islands capitals have the highest concentration of multi‑property landlords in the country.
In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 64.9% of landlords own two or more rental properties, compared with 35.1% who own a single rental home. Santa Cruz de Tenerife shows almost identical figures: 64.6% are multi‑landlords, while 35.4% hold just one rental property.
Nationwide, the report found that 52.8% of homes rented by private individuals belong to owners with two or more rental properties. Furthermore, 61% of the entire rental market is controlled by multi‑landlords and legal entities combined. By contrast, 39% of the Spanish rental market consists of landlords with a single rental property.
