Yaiza Ayuntamiento has released its full programme of events for the eagerly awaited Three Kings Day next Monday, 5th January. The highlight will be two traditional camel-led parades in the evening, though their Majesties Melchor, Gaspar, and Baltasar will be busy touring the southern villages from early morning.
The iconic parades will see the Kings process through the streets on camel-back. The first begins at 5:00 pm in Yaiza, departing from the gallery and travelling along the main street to the Plaza de la Alameda.
The second parade is scheduled for 7:30 pm in Playa Blanca. It will start at the bus station roundabout, proceed down Calle Jaime Quesada and along the Avenida Papagayo, finishing at the Plaza del Carmen. Entertainment there begins earlier, at 6:00 pm, around the same square. Following both processions, the Three Kings will personally greet and listen to the wishes of all children. The evening in Playa Blanca will be rounded off with a performance by DJ Elvis.
Before the parades, the Kings will conduct a thorough tour of the southern localities by vehicle. Their morning itinerary is as follows:
- La Geria: 9:20 am
- Puerto Calero: 10:10 am
- Playa Quemada: 10:35 am
- Uga: 11:00 am
- Las Casitas: 11:15 am
- Femés: 11:30 am
- Maciot: 11:45 am
- Las Breñas: 12:05 pm
- La Hoya: 12:15 pm
- El Golfo: 12:35 pm
- La Degollada: 1:00 pm
Yaiza’s Councilor for Festivities, Daniel Medina, extended a warm invitation to all residents. “We encourage the people of Lanzarote to join in the municipality’s Three Kings programme,” he said, “for what we hope will be a magical day for our families and children.”
