The first accident of 2026 saw a driver leave the LZ-40

First accident of the year saw a man leave the LZ-40 near Puerto del Carmen at 5am on the morning of Thursday 1^st January.

Emergency services were alerted by an automatic emergency call from the vehicle itself, and local police, Guardia Civil officers and firefighters attended the scene.

Firefighters freed the driver, who was trapped in the driving seat, by removing the rear hatch of the vehicle. He was then taken to the Dr Jose Molina Orosa Hospital.
