Arrecife’s belén opens

Arrecife opened its nativity scene last night, with eager crowds waiting to see one the most popular belenes on the island.

In previous years the capital’s belén has been situated in a marquee on the seafront, but this year it is located in the El Mercadillo shopping centre on Calle Real, Arrecife’s main shopping street.

This listed building was once one of the most important mansions on the island and was acquired by the council a couple of years ago.
