Teguise Ayuntamiento has devoted €203,000 to the renovation of the three footpaths in the resort.
Costa Teguise’s green areas have been allowed to fall into a state of considerable neglect in recent years, with poor surfaces, absence of signposting and dead plants.
The first footpath to be renovated will be Sendero No. 1, a circular 5 km walk that takes walkers around the Jablillo headland and up the Barranco del Hurón.
The improvements will include solar-powered lighting, information panels, waste bins, shaded areas and benches.
Work is scheduled to take around four months according to the terms of the original tender.
