Firefighters, local police and helicopter involved in coastal rescue

Firefighters, local police and an emergency helicopter were involved in the search for a person who had become disoriented on Lanzarote’s north-west coast yesterday.

After receiving a distress call at 6.30 pm two Yaiza police officers joined firefighters in a search of the volcanic coastline between the remote beaches of Las Malvas and Cochino.

Firefighters then sent up a drone to assist in the search before a GES helicopter arrived. The helicopter finally located the person and evacuated them to a safe place.
