The environmental committee at the Dr José Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife have launched a Reading in Action project aimed at promoting reading and recycling books.

The project allows patients and other hospital users to take or donate used books in good condition and is similar to the shelves that have existed in several hotels for many years.

The Estanteria Viajera (travelling shelf) has been set up in the hospital lobby.

On the same subject, the Biblioplaya beach library at Playa Grande in Puerto del Carmen has been extended to the end of August after its success in July.

Originally scheduled to close on July 31st, the library has handed out 600 books in its first month, and also offers a bookswop service, with books in Spanish, English, German, Italian and French.
