Man rescued from strange incident in Puerto del Carmen

A strange incident in the early hours of Sunday morning involved a man being rescued from the sea in Puerto del Carmen.

After a report of cries issuing from the coast two boats from the emergency services arrived at the El Poril area of the resort where they found a 50-year-old man in a highly agitated state swimming in the sea.

The man refused to board the boats, instead diving beneath one of them and risking injury from the propellor.

After eventually securing the man, he was taken to the pier and transported to hospital.
