Waiting lists for operations in the Canarian Health Service have fallen by 24 days over the last year, and now stand at an average of four months and seven days.
Canarian Health Minister Esther Monzón claimed that the reduction was due to focusing on patients who had been waiting for over six months.
At Lanzarote’s Dr Jose Molina Rosa Hospital, the average waiting time has been reduced by 37 days, and currently stands at 63 days.
Monzón thanked Canarian health workers for their efforts in lifting the Canaries from their last-place position in Spain in queues for operations, but said that “We are still not satisfied, as there is still a lot of room for improvement.”
