The Blue Flags for Playa Blanca’s town beach and Puerto Calero have been hoisted this week by the Yaiza Mayor and Ayuntamiento councillors.

Yesterday, Yaiza hoisted its newly renewed Blue Flags at the town beach in Playa Blanca and at Puerto Calero. The hoisting of the flags was attended by Yaiza Mayor, Óscar Noda, and councillor for tourism and beaches, Daniel Medina.

Noda stated that the two flags “give greater value to Yaiza as a tourist destination of the highest level in the Canary Islands”, later stating that “Yaiza Ayuntamiento renews its commitment to invest in the beach [in Playa Blanca] within the scope of its powers so that our neighbours and tourists continue to enjoy a placid and emblematic location.”

On Playa Blanca’s town beach, Medina described it as “a symbol of Playa Blanca with presence in the various formats of tourism promotion, being also an important location for the practice and exhibition of local sports such as wrestling and sailing.”.

As for Puerto Calero, Noda emphasised the work of businessman José Calero, “it is fair to publicly recognise the great investment effort reflected in 40 years of trajectory and 29 consecutive blue flags, apart from other quality seals achieved by the marina in four decades of history”.

Puerto Calero is the only marina in Lanzarote with a Blue Flag.
