Canal Gestión has announced two extensive contracts, worth €22 million in total, to renovate Lanzarote’s water system. The island’s water supplier is hoping to finalise the three-year deals by the end of the year.

The largest contract is €11.9 million devoted to Arrecife, Tías and Yaiza. The second contract is for Teguise, Haría, Tinajo and San Bartolomé, with La Graciosa included. The two contracts cannot be carried out by the same company.

The principal aim of the works is to tackle water leaks and technical problems in the mains system, which have led to frequent water cuts and shortages on the island.  This week, for example, Los Valles, Máguez, Charco del Palo. Teseguite, Tahíche, Conil, La Asomada and Playa Honda have been affected.
