Guardia Civil and mountain rescue services have been mobilised to aid in the search for 19-year-old Jay Slater, who went missing in Tenerife on Monday morning.
The young man apparently went to the house of new acquaintances after attending a music festival, and decided to walk back to his accommodation when he couldn’t get a bus, unaware that it was ten-hour walk.
Friends received a message on Monday morning saying he was lost and feeling thirsty, with 1% charge left on his phone. The message was traced to the Parque Rural de Teno, an area of mountains and cliffs on the north-east of Tenerife.
Jay’s mother and older brother flew to Tenerife on Monday night.
