This year’s surprisingly good wine harvest will result in around three million bottles of wine, according to the Lanzarote Wine Council.

This amount is likely to be sufficient to meet demand, after a year in which many bodegas and wine sellers ran out of stock.

Early bottles of malvasia dry white wine have already been produced by the bodegas of La Florida, Tierra de Volcanes, Lágrima de Malvasía, El Grifo, La Geria, Vega de Yuco, Guiguán, Bermejo, La Grieta and Vulcano. It is highly possible that some of 2023 wines will be available to sample at this weekend’s food fair in Teguise.

Prices for a bottle will be around €15, which reflects the fact that wine is not mass-produced on Lanzarote, and the decent prices that grape growers received for their produce.

Producers on the island are now looking toward next year and, unlike tourists, praying for rain, which is vital for a good crop.
