Lanzarote’s swimming sensation Kennedy Hope Denby became the first female to win the Travesia A Nado Del Rio since 1998 yesterday.
Kennedy finished the 2.6 km course in 33 minutes and 5 seconds, a minute ahead of Carlos Vizcaino in second place.
16-year-old Kennedy has been breaking records and winning trophies for several years now, and is without a doubt one of the best swimmers on the Canaries.
The swimming contest from Lanzarote to La Graciosa took place once again after a four year absence caused by the cancellation of race in 2019 and the subsequent Covid restrictions. As a result, only 250 swimmers took part – all of whom had missed the 2019 race.
Conditions were excellent, and the Cabildo President María Dolores Corujo and sports councillor Alfred Mendoza were on hand to give out the prizes.
