The Agrocanarias Gofio Competition 2022 kicks off on Lanzarote with samples from all over the Canary Islands.
This Wednesday the presentation of the seventh edition of the Agrocanarias Gofio Competition was held in the Hotel Seaside Los Jameos Playa in Puerto del Carmen. The competition features gofios from all over the Canary Islands, to be tasted and judged.
A total of 86 gofio samples are on display: 32 from Tenerife, 2 from La Palma, 18 from La Gomera, 3 from El Hierro, 25 from Gran Canaria, 4 from Fuerteventura and 2 from Lanzarote.
The Lanzarote Cabildo Councillor, Hugo Delgao, pointed out that they are “firmly committed to the local sector, which is why we are holding the competition on Lanzarote this year.”.
The competition winners will be announced tomorrow. The categories are as follows: Grand Gold Medal, Gold Medal, Silver Medal. There will also be special distinctions: Best Gofio in the Canary Islands, Best Organic Gofio, Best Local Grain Gofio, Best Looking, Best Gofio Chosen by Out Elders 2022.
