The Canarian Government has advised islanders not to walk on coastal paths or bathe in the sea over the weekend due to rough sea conditions caused by storm Domingos.
On Lanzarote, the worst-affected areas will be the north and west coasts of Yaiza, Tinajo, Teguise (north and La Graciosa) and Haría, where citizens are advised to treat the sea with caution.
Yellow alerts have been issued from 8pm last night Friday) until midday on Saturday, and again from 8 am to midnight on Sunday, when waves of up to 5 metres are forecast. Cooler, windier weather conditions are predicted to continue until next Tuesday at least.
The Travesia A Nado El Rio, the swimming competition between Lanzarote’s Playa del Risco and La Graciosa has already been cancelled due to the weather alerts.
