Archeologists have discovered proof of links between the earliest inhabitants of Lanzarote and the Romans.
A site at El Bebedero, near Tiagua, has revealed headstones and tools made of polished basalt and an almost complete Roman amphora.
According to Pablo Atoche, head of the team from the University of Las Palmnas de Gran Canaria which has been carrying out the excavations, the findings provide important clues to the nature of trade between islanders and the Romans in a time period from the first century BC to the 4th century AD.
