Stricter holiday rental law presented

The Canarian Government yesterday presented the draft of its new Law on Holiday Rentals, which will devolve the regulation of this sector to local councils and establish a 10% limit of holiday rental premises on the main tourist islands.

Mararía moves

The Mararía women’s association has moved from its cramped old offices on C/ Fajardo to new premises that are more spacious and better-suited to the requirements of privacy and discretion that its work requires.

Lanzarote housing proposal rejected

Lanzarote’s Cabildo has voted against declaring the island a “residential market zone of tension”, under the Spanish Government’s housing law. Such a declaration would have given the island powers to introduce policies such as rent controls.
