The Cabildo has rejected two tourism projects in Playa Blanca, including a hotel expansion that would have added 308 guest beds.
According to La Voz, both proposals were refused because they failed to meet tourism regulations.
The first project involved expanding a hotel complex with 154 accommodation units and 308 guest beds. A technical report found that three floors in the northern section were not connected by a lift, as required by the rules. There was also no record of an exemption being granted by the Canarian Government.
The council therefore refused permission for the expansion.
The second proposal involved converting a single-family home in Playa Blanca into a tourist villa with 14 guest beds.
The Cabildo found that the proposed capacity did not match the property’s existing conditions. Its layout and access arrangements also meant rooms could be rented separately to different guests at the same time. The property was also missing all the minimum facilities required under the regulations.
