The small beach at Caleta de Caballo was closed to bathers yesterday after traces of sewage were detected in the water.
The origin of the contamination is not known, but further samples will be taken and analysed today.
The fishing village is currently celebrating its fiestas, with the Procession of the Limpet scheduled for Sunday 6th August. In this act, a large model of a limpet is carried into the sea by locals. However, this may not go ahead if bathing is forbidden.
